Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesman Fawad Chaudhry Sunday said that they had given a clear message to the United States on not facilitating their policy in the region.
While speaking to a private television channel, the PTI spokesman said that they would want Pakistan to have an equal say in matters of mutual interest, with the US.
Commenting on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Chaudhry said that all the arrangement made under the project would be taken care of. He added that parliament would also keep a check on them.
“The governments of Pakistan and China could bring changes to the project with mutual consent, if there would be a need to do so,” he said while speaking about Pakistan’s foreign policy after PTI emerged as the possible ruling party following the 2018General Elections.
In his first speech to the public following victory in elections on July 25, PTI Chairman and PM-in-waiting Imran Khan said he would want Pakistan to have a balanced relation with the US.
He also spoke about Pakistan’s ties with neighbouring countries, saying peace in Afghanistan would ensure stability in Pakistan. Imran had also proposed talks with India in his victory speech.
On the other hand, the country’s expected finance minister, Asad Umar, had said that US should focus on repaying the loan it has taken from China instead of worrying about Pakistan’s debts.
