Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar met with Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar at his office here on Tuesday. Both discussed different matters of mutual interest including development schemes, political matters and also agreed to continue working jointly for the largest good of the public. Talking on this occasion, Governor Ch. Sarwar said that the Punjab government is taking historic steps for public welfare as the provision of necessary facilities to the citizens is the priority of the government. He announced that clean drinking water will be provided to the people through Punjab Aab Pak Authority.
Chief Minister Usman Buzdar reiterated that there is no crisis in Punjab, nor would it be allowed and all government stakeholders are at one page. The PTI government is, even more, stronger under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan and rumour-mongers and conspirators are facing defeat at every occasion, he added. The PTI government is moving forward by taking everyone along and direction and commitments are right. He reaffirmed that transformation of Punjab, as the best province, along with the provision of best available facilities to the people, is the objective of the incumbent government. All will work jointly and no one will be given an opportunity of a complaint. He said that no hurdle will be tolerated in the journey of development under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Meanwhile, the meeting of Aab Pak Authority was also held at CM Office which was jointly chaired by Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and Governor Ch. Muhammad Sarwar. Different matters including the provision of clean drinking water to the citizens came under review and the chief minister said that this authority has been constituted to provide clean drinking water to every citizen. He reiterated that promise of providing clean drinking water to every nook and corner of the province would be fulfilled. Rs8 billion have been allocated for the provision of clean drinking water in the annual development program. He regretted that an important matter of providing clean drinking water was ignored in the past and directed that matters about Aab Pak Authority should be settled at the earliest along with a business plan. He further said that operational and maintenance units should also be developed for monitoring and continued functioning of water supply schemes because access to clean drinking water is the right of every citizen. The chief minister said that community’s role is important in the operationalization of water supply schemes and water filtration plants and added that necessary matters should be moved forward on a fast-track basis as the delay has already occurred.
Governor Punjab said that the best team is available for Aab Pak Authority and mid-night oil is burnt for the success of this project. We want to develop a unified model for ensuring clean drinking water to the citizens and Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners will have to take a lead for this project, he added. The meeting was told that 3353 water supply schemes are functional, out of a total of 5136, and 1783 schemes are non-functional. Out of a total of 3050 water filtration plants, 2312 are functional, while 738 are non-functional. Provincial ministers Raja Basharat, Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed, Hashim Jawan Bakht, Mussarat Jamshed Cheema MPA, SMBR, Chairman Aab Pak Authority Maj. Gen. (R) Ahmed Nawaz Saleem Mela and others attended the meeting.
Condolence
Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar expressed a deep sense of sorrow over the loss of precious human lives due to fire in a factory near Imamia Colony and extended sympathies to the bereaved heirs. He also directed to investigate the incident and sought a report from Commissioner Lahore Division. He further directed the administration to provide the best healthcare facilities to the injured adding that persons responsible for negligence should be identified after comprehensive investigation and action be initiated.
Meetings
Central Secretary General PTI Aamir Mehmood Kiyani and Chief Whip in National Assembly Aamir Dogar called on Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar at his office and agreed to further improve the coordination between MNAs and the provincial government. Talking on this occasion, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said that problems relating to MNAs’ constituencies would be resolved and no one will be allowed to create hurdles in the solution of the genuine demands of the elected representatives. The doors of CM Office are open for MNAs as they are dear to me like the MPAs, he added. The chief minister said that Punjab government is also engaged in development work in MNAs’ constituencies and they will be given full respect and honour. Consultations with MNAs will be continued to solve the problems of the people. He further said that proposals of MNAs will be given full importance and practicable propels will be implemented. We will move forward jointly for serving the masses of the province. Meanwhile, the Punjab government’s performance is better than other provinces despite the spate of criticism. The conspirators will remain to criticise while Punjab will continue moving forward, concluded the chief minister.
