LONDON: Former head
of Indian intelligence agenc
y ;Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) Amarjit Singh Dulat has proposed “dialogue” as an only way to resolve Kashmir dispute.
He expressed these views during a debate with former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Director General Ehsanul Haq on Friday night in London.

The former RAW chief said that the New Delhi has created a ‘mess’
in Kashmir in the past 15 months. “India’s strategy of not engaging with Pakistan made no sense at all,” he added.
He further said, “Heavy handedness has never worked
in Kashmir… actually, it doesn’t work anywhere as we’ve seen recently in Spain.”
The former ISI chief remarked, “The situation
in Kashmir had taken a turn for the worse since last July.
He said that the Indian fo
rces used pellet guns ruthlessly to tackle the protest of Kashmiri peop
le.
Ehsanul Haq also accused Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi of using harsh rhetoric against Pakistan for electoral and political advantage.
