GUJRANWALA: A boy set alight the body of his elder brother after killing him with an iron rod in Khiali area of Gujranwala, it emerged on Thursday.
Police recovered bones of the deceased, Tayyab, from a furnace and registered a case.
Tayyab, who went missing three days ago, was reportedly killed by his younger brother Muhammad Ali. Police said that the accused had confessed to killing his elder brother. During the preliminary investigation, the accused said he had a quarrel with his elder brother and hit him with an iron road, killing Tayyab on the spot. Later, he threw his body in a furnace and set it on fire.
Separately, a man injured his former wife with an axe attack over a property dispute in Abbas Colony on Thursday.
The victim, Nazia, had got divorced from Nasir six months ago. She had also filed a petition to get a piece of land, which Nasir had written to her at the time of the wedding.
On the day of incident, Nasir reached the house of Nazia and attacked her with an axe, inuring Nazia badly. She was rushed to the DHQ hospital for treatment. Jinnah Road police registered a case and started investigation.
Clerk arrested: A man wanted in a bribe case was arrested by the anti-corruption authorities from Sialkot. According to detail, Nasrullah, a clerk of EDO office, was accused of receiving Rs 150,000 bribe for appointment of a youth as an educator, but he did not got issued the appointment letter.
The anti-corruption authorities swung into action on a written application of a citizen, Saleem Ullah Mehar. A case was registered and further investigations were underway.
